celebration & worship

Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name;
worship the Lord in holy splendor.

Psalm 29:2

We offer a diverse worship menu, from Contemporary to Traditional. Our worship is a variety of styles that enhances  our life together and gives glory to God.   Our church family invites you to join us for worship.

Contemporary Worship

The contemporary service is less formal. There is a worship order but no formal liturgy.  A sermon and Communion are included.

Our Praise Band leads in the singing of  modern praise music and contemporary Christian music you might hear on the radio.

Why I love Contemporary service

Our Contemporary Worship Service is a place for our congregation’s talents to shine; it’s a place of comfort; and a place to see the faces of my brothers and sisters in Christ.    On any given Sunday, one might hear the music of Chris Tomlin, Newsboys, Mercy Me, Casting Crowns or Lincoln Brewster.  It’s uplifting and many (including me) are clapping to the beat.

The inspiring sermons by Pastor Kathy are delivered right in the aisle in front of me. The personal touch is wonderful.  Every once in a while, I’m blessed to see a short performance in the form of a skit. It’s just another way to hear about God’s love for us through our members.  My husband and I participate in the service by assisting with communion or ushering. Greeting my fellow Christian friends provide warmth, love and lots of hugs.  We absolutely love to see the talents of our young ones. Youth-run services and children sermons are a joyful and special treat.

I am grateful to call First Church my home and consider the Contemporary Service my fit.

Traditional worship

The traditional service uses a liturgy that consists of historical worship components. It often includes a choir (instrumental and/or vocal), sermon, and Communion.
The music at the traditional services comes from our hymnal and is usually accompanied by organ, piano, and brass. You will also hear God's word in the Scripture, congregation singing together, Communion and prayers for the needs of the world.
